ISO/IEC 17043 Proficiency Testing Provider

For the purposes of enhancing the credibility and technical capabilities of the proficiency testing providers, promoting the use of proficiency testing services, and improving the effectiveness and efficiency to demonstrate the competitiveness, TAF has developed the accreditation scheme for proficiency testing providers to provide impartial, objective, and independent third-party accreditation services that meet the domestic and international requirements. The requirements of accreditation scheme are in accordance with the ISO/IEC 17043, the Mutual Recognition Arrangement with the Asia Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (APAC MRA), and the Mutual Recognition Arrangement with the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC MRA). The scope of the accreditation schemes includes the domains of calibration, testing, medicine, etc.

The scope of accreditation schemes for proficiency testing providers is as follows:

  • Application items in calibration: Length, Vibration & Acoustics, Mass/Force, Temperature/Humidity, Electricity, Electromagnetics, Flow, Chemical, Time and Frequency, Ionizing Radiation
  • Application items in testing: Acoustics, Biological, Chemical, Electrical, Ionizing Radiation, Construction, Mechanical, Non-Destructive Testing, Optics, Temperature, Forensic Science Testing
  • Application items in medicine: Anatomical pathology, Clinical biochemistry, Transfusion medicine, Hematology, Clinical immunoserology, Clinical microbiology, Clinical toxicology, Clinical microscopy, Cytogenetics, Genetics and molecular pathology, imaging medicine, health examination, etc.

Regardless of the size, all legally registered domestic and foreign organization, which could be military, public, private, and academic research institution and its affiliated entities, can file in applications for proficiency testing provider accreditation by the person in charge. The proficiency testing provider has designated technical personnel to perform testing based on the established management system in appropriate space with specific resources and to issue the testing reports.

Before filing the application, applicants are advised to read the “Proficiency Testing Provider Accreditation Service Manual (TAF-PTP-A01)” to understand the relevant regulations and application procedures to facilitate the accreditation process.
