ISO 17034 Reference Material Producer

Laboratories, during the testing or calibration process, need to use certified reference materials or reference materials to verify the equipment parameters or related conditions to ensure the compliance with the specific requirements. High-quality reference materials serve as the sources of traceability of measurement results for foreign or domestic laboratories and help testing/calibration laboratories to enhance the accuracy of their test/calibration results. TAF has developed the accreditation program for reference material producers in accordance with the ISO 17034, the Asia-Pacific Accreditation Cooperation Mutual Recognition Arrangement (APAC MRA), and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation Mutual Recognition Arrangement (ILAC MRA). The aims of accreditation program are to provide impartial, objective and independent third-party reference material producer accreditation services that meet the domestic and foreign demand and enhance the technology and quality of the reference material producers.

Class A:     Chemical composition

Class B:    Biological and clinical characteristics

Class C: Physical properties

Class D: Engineering characteristics

Class E:    Miscellaneous

Regardless of the size all legally registered domestic and foreign organization, which could be military, public, private, and academic research institution and its affiliated entities, can file in applications for reference material producer accreditation by the person in charge. The reference material producer has designated management and technical personnel to perform reference material production planning, designation and approval of property values and associated uncertainties, authorization of the property value, and the issuance of certificates, etc., based on the established management system.

Applicants are advised to read the " Reference Material Producer Accreditation Service Manual" (TAF-RMP-A01) to understand the relevant regulations and application procedures to facilitate the accreditation.
